At forty mph on my trusty Raleigh headed for Harvard Square, I passed a church with a
glassed in bulletin board for inspirational quotations. In a camera-shutter blink I read
a motto I have lived by ever since. It was attributed to Booker T. Washington, a very gifted
black educator of a hundred years ago. I have not been able to confirm the attribution.

"Cheating is a confession of inferiority which I do not choose to make."
