OP Another one of the spelling bee words. A coin collector. Numimatic = study of coins.
For once, my dictionary gives more information about etymology, tracing it back to
Greek nomos = law. Creation of coins is a jealously guarded prerogative of goverhment.
If you get caught making coins, you get plenty privilege taken away. (Hoagy Carmichael).
