OP I have wondered how "eutrophic" came to mean an excess of nutrients. I was reminded
of it by article in DISCOVER about fish farms along east coast of Gulf of California.
Can you think of any other words with "eu" prefix that mean not something good, but excess?
PS Not counting the Eumenides, the euphemism for the Furies!
Or eunuch!
Or euphuism.
