In the early 90s I spent a month cycling around Ireland, during which sojourn Ireland was playing in the World Cup championships. I don't remember the name of the song, but there was a wonderful fight song that was (I think) written just for that competition. Everywhere I went in Ireland I heard it over and over again.

Perhaps GallantTed knows.

I was privileged to be invited to an NCO club at Curragh Camp, County Kildare, on the afternoon when Ireland played England. The sergeant who invited me assured me that the Guiness there was the least expensive in Ireland, somewhere around 90p, as opposed to 1 punt 20 elsewhere. The last thing I remember before waking the next day face down in my tent was everyone singing that song when Ireland tied the score with seconds remaining in regulation time.
