Or maybe the term isn't used in his area. I've never seen the term used outside of cartoons and dodgy birthday cards. We have simply colo-rectal surgeons. Proctologist has (to me) always suggested a specialist on the medical (as opposed to surgical) end of the spectrum. Is that incorrect?
