Well, no--actually, I hadn't. No one had ever figured out how to get them on the television set (my son did it once by accident, and like to have never gotten them off of there--and he was a teenager!); so I'd gotten so used to not having them available, it didn't occur to me that the CD player might have them--until I was discussing this with Bingley. He suggested it, and...right there on the CD player's remote control was a Subtitles button! So, thank you, Bingley. I'll go back to the beginning of the movie now, after I've seen all of it.

I believe it was in the course of that conversation that I found out that Brit-speakers pronounce the name Babel so that it rhymes with table. Has anyone else heard this?

EDIT: Firenze is Italian for Florence Thank you; this I knew from reading, once it was explained to me by the traveler who'd been there; but it's not likely I'd understand it auditorily. My Italian is pretty much limited to musical terms.
