No, I found it in Salia's Limerick Companion a compilation of limericks grouped by keyword. That one is actually a translation of a poem in Verbatim's famous Roman epic poem The Ibid. But I did pen this one tonight:
There once was a literate nation
Whose epics were lost in translation
The words once sublime
Had lost all their rhyme,
And also their alliteration
Until diligent scholars persisted
(And eke reading public insisted)
Til a volume produced
Was not quite so obtuse
And the poetry not so hamfisted
