There may be a name for this game; however, if there is I don’t know it.

Try to make the shortest sentence possible using a noun, verb and adverb or adjective which share the same root. Homonyms are aloud and extra points are awarded for humor.

Example: I’m watching the watchmaker watchfully.

He gets two related words and you're impressed; I get six, including the name and nobody notices? I am mortified.

I did notice, Faldage my friend - including the name, which I thought was very clever:
but I didn't read the thread until after you had posted.

I’m watching the watchmaker watchfully.

If succinctness wins prizes, this could be improved by pluralizing and couching it in the imperative:

Watch watchmakers watchfully.

but Faldage, "whore" is unrelated to the other words....Shouldn't that be, "We cherish our cherries..."

but maybe "cherries" is unrelated too....

Close, but not-quite-rightly spelled. It's "cheries." French, dear one.

"whore" is unrelated to the other words

Depends how far back you go.

http://www.bartleby.com/61/roots/IE194.html

Cherry is ultimately from the Semitic.

Merci bien, mon petit chou. Tu es tres gentil! (et tres clever, aussi! je dis dans mon best franglais)

(hey Faldage, how do I make the right accent for "tres" on my Mac? I can do this one - é - but not t'other, cos I don't know how. I also keep forgetting which is grave and which is ague....)

I'd make a reference to a famous Dennis Hopper line from the movie "Blue Velvet" but it is far too obscene.

"John Cage's physician asked him the CAGE questions, and he seemed a little cagey in his responses."

mg, in your Apple pull-down menu you should find "Key Caps" -- a miniature keyboard on which you can experiment and find the different diacritics and odd symbols available.

ah yes, good 'ole KeyCaps... once again, I'll push Font Explorer:

http://pages.infinit.net/trottier/fexpl.html
(make sure you get the Classic Mac OS version)

for those of you mac users still using 9 or below, it's much better than KeyCaps...
and actually, they have an OSX version now, which I find easier to use than the character palette.

Do the extra points count more than the points not gotten for having words that are etymologically related to each other? The only words that are etymologically related as far as I can tell are Carl and Karl. I mean it's a good pun but.
