An article in New Scientist for Nov 16 uses "convergence" in a way new to me, the third
definition in my dictionary:
3 Biol. the development of similarities in unrelated organisms living in the same environment
"......evolutionary convergence [is what you see]
".....when you examine the tapestry of evolution, you see the same patterns emerging over and over
again.............Organisms faced with the same challenge repeatedly arrive at the same solutions. And
intelligence is one of these solutions........intelligence seems to be an inevitable outcome of evolution...."
