Some words from spelling bee. If kids are expected to know them, shouldn't you?

anagogic I know(not sure why...),; and I've heard of angiosperm and gymnosperm, but couldn't tell you the difference; the others are new to me. I could however, spell them all, if pressed. spelling bees don't require the speller to know the definition, do they?
guess I'll get out the dictionary later!

Since the queen of anastrophe has been with us from the beginning, we are well
acquainted with her. Angiosperms have coverings on the seeds, such as pods on beans, etc. The gymnosperms are literally naked, covered only with a membrane to retain moisture, such as the pines.
As I said before, I think the kids would find knowing the meaning of the words an
indispensable mnemonic. I have always wanted to know etymology as well as an additional mnemonic.
