Sept.-Oct. Hogwash: GEMEBUND
1. having the color of a pumpkin; dark yellow-orange.
2. gemebund ( alt. sp. gemebun'd): having precious or semi-precious stones embedded in the buttocks area, sometimes in conjunction with an arrangement of tattoos.
3. of or relating to a finish for wood that employs an elastic polymer to ensure a dent-proof bond.
4. pretty with a dash of plain, comely.
5. Moribund.
6. Of or pertaining to two mythic twin snake-like familiars of the Hopi indians; their mythical names latinized by catholic priests. Desiring a symbiotic relationship with the snake, the shaman allowed the great snake to wrap itself around his upper torso and attach tendrils deep into his body. The gemebund familiar (l. geme > twin) would always bring great wisdom to his shaman host, but a moribund (l. mori > to die) familiar would grow fat feeding from the soul of his host until, and even after, the unfortunate shaman's death.
7. foggy or misty.
8. from the Latin, becoming increasingly valuable.
9. moaning, groaning, whimpering [L]: the gemebund wind sent shivers down her spine.
10. capable of (and actively in the process of) splitting into two parts (like that infernal broom in the Sorcerer's Apprentice); from geme-, from gemini (twins)

- - Hey Whit! Pick me! I,ll spit, Whit, I'll spit! The correct answer is... # 9 - that's right - # 9 _______________________________________
gemebund: # 9. moaning, groaning, whimpering [L]: the gemebund wind sent shivers down her spine. You know the saying, "the times that you think you are most right are the times that you are the most wrong".Well Pals O' Mine, this ain't one of 'em. In fact I am so sure that I'm right that I will email each and every one of you Hogwashers and Hogwasherettes ---> $5.00 (Five Dollars) in the form of a promissory note if I'm proven wrong. Hint: The secret to understanding this word was knowing its latino roots. - [Note: The above in no way violates the non-gaming laws of Hogwash. No bet as such has been made and no wagering has been promoted. -mw]

I'm sure that 10 is the seriously right answer, so - in the spirit of the game - I'll take 2 or 6. OK, I'll settle on 2 for its cheek.

EDIT: We have a winner! Thanks to Jazzoctober's input!
Shiverbabe is the winner of the round.Everybody who entered has voted, so I guess the ghastly results should be posted. Curiously enough, the ASp entered the actual definition of gemebund, which was moaning, a very nice October adjective and I again apologize for having identified the part of speech. The results are below with a four-way tie. Edit: Nope, it warn't no four-way tie; Shiverbabe won!I have taken the liberty--in the spirit of the season--of disguising the entrants' names: 1. having the color of a pumpkin; dark yellow-orange. Jazzoctober receives one vote = one point 2. gemebund ( alt. sp. gemebun'd): having precious or semi-precious stones embedded in the buttocks area, sometimes in conjunction with an arrangement of tattoos. ...a definition worthy of Dr. Billslimy toves receives two votes = two points 3. of or relating to a finish for wood that employs an elastic polymer to ensure a dent-proof bond. TEd Tremblington receives 0 votes = 0 points, but, hey, you’re Anagram King Tremblington! 4. pretty with a dash of plain, comely. Witchonapike receives 1 vote = 1 point 5. Moribund. Whitman O’Leer receives 0 votes = 0 points…mebbe we shoulda entered your anonymous daffinitions! The gemebund familiar (l. geme > twin) would always bring great wisdom to his shaman host, but a moribund (l. mori > to die) familiar would grow fat feeding from the soul of his host until, and even after, the unfortunate shaman's death. miglum receives one vote = one point 7. foggy or misty. Shiverbabe receives 2 votes = 2 points 8. from the Latin, becoming increasingly valuable. Fangdage receives 0 votes, but thanks, Fang, for playing! 9. moaning, groaning, whimpering [L]: the gemebund wind sent shivers down her spine. AnnaShriektic receives 2 votes [and her definition also was the real definition, therefore she receives…= 2 points Shiverbabe correctly identified the correct definition, so here's where she nailed her win, having already received two points for her daffinition.10. capable of (and actively in the process of) splitting into two parts (like that infernal broom in the Sorcerer's Apprentice); from geme-, from gemini (twins) WereWolfaholic receives 2 votes = 2 points So, it looks like a four-way tie among Slimy toves, Shiverbabe, AnnaShriektic, and WereWolfaholic. You’ll have to find a little bitty knife to divide the piece of candy corn that’s the prize for this round. Nope, it warn't no four-way tie. I did not think to add in Shiverbabe's point for identifying the correct definition.
So: Shiverbabe, with three big points, gets the whole piece of candy corn. Congratulations! Send me a self-addressed stamped envelope, Shiver for your corn. Beastly regards, WordWoooooooooooooooooooooo

Now wait just one darn, cotton-pickin' minute. Because her definition was the real one, she didn't fool anyone. Those people were selecting the correct one, so shouldn't they get points for that? She should maybe also get points for coincidentally (or is it) submitting the real definition, but she certainly didn't fool those two people. No offense, Anna Oh wait, we're playing WW rules . . .

Jazz,
You're absolutely right. AnnaS voted for her own definition, but she voted for the one that was the real one, so she should get one point for that vote.
Where I messed up is the person who voted for the real one should get a point, too, so lemme go look up who voted for the real one and that person will receive another point--I can't remember now who voted for the ASp's definition (the real definition)...
Back in a minute...
WW
EDIT: Shiverbabe has been pronounced the true winner with three points.
And this round of Hogwash has been officially dedicated to Jazz, that ever-alert Hogwash Expert.
