Dear Jackie: in all the stories about knights "hight" means "he was named (or called). hight 7hjt8 adj. 5ME highte, merging OE hatte, pass. pt. with heht, active pt. of hatan, to command, call: confused in sense with ME hoten, pp. of same v.: akin to Ger heissen < IE base *kci3, to move6 [Archaic] named; called !a maiden hight Elaine"
