Luvvies - a term current in UK for actors; I guess to do with their habit of calling each other "darling" or "love" - indeed, quite often using the term, "luvvy." All very camp, but not ever a sound indication of sexual orientation of the actor using the phrase, nor of the one it is used to.
The phrase became well-known generally during Tony Blair's first, successful, bid for return of a Labour government to parliament. A number of well-known actors supported his campaign and the papers were full of discussion about the effect of "the luvvies vote."

Interesting. My original (pure USn) reaction was diapers The notion of being hugged by a diaper is not very appealing.

[Shrug] And this is a Brit site.Yep, I can testify that we have Huggies and Pampers over here, and that my wife and I went totally environmentally unfriendly as regards sanitary arrangements for our kids when they were babies [loads of Huggies failing to rot away in a landfill site somewhere...]
