I'd love to see some choice examples of graffiti any of y'all have run across personally. (ie, not stuff you've read/heard about)
One of my favourite examples here in Kingston, Canada, is on a wall in a narrow quasi-"street" called Opera Lane (it runs behind the Grand Theatre). It says:
Live your life forwards Understand it backwards
I thought that was brilliant!
When I used to get hired by Queen's University in the art department (they are using models less and less, the ignorant sods), I used to really enjoy reading the cubicles in the women's washrooms, on any floor - fine arts majors seem to have witty/combative minds and a talent for expression....One day I saw a single serious question:
What is art?
I couldn't resist writing a frivolous response:
Art is a man with no arms and no legs, hanging on your wall.
I went to university at Trent in Peterborough, and the desks in the Bata Library always had great graffiti on them, too - wish I could remember some of it....I spent some serious study time copying it down but now I don't know where I saved it!

Instructions on the hand dryer in an ultra modern restroom: Step 1: Shake excess water off hands. Step 2: Push button. Step 3: Rub hands briskly in warm air flow.
Dryer shuts off automatically.
Some wit had added
Step 4: Wipe hands on pants!

This old grouch has serious mental reservations about the commission of graffiti. The few clever ones do not atone for the atrocity of the desecration of the environment by the stupid ones. My favorite uncle said:
"His ambition is very small who writes his name on the shithouse wall".
I did see one appropriate one in latrine in Harvard lecture hall. Some s.o.b. had actually stood on the seat to relieve himself, not trusting well sanitized seat, leaving marks of soles and heels visible. The next occupant wrote on the wall avove it : "You might as well sit on the seat, the crabs in here jump 15 feet."

My apologies, Bill. In my youth I did once write graffiti. I was visiting the A & S side of campus and scribbled in a john:
"Franz Kafka is alive and well and living in my terrarium."
In my first few days at university, I saw written "All men are brothers. All wars are civil wars." I'm turned off by maudlin stuff, but I thought this was touching for its simplicity and lack of bathos. Underneath someone had scrawled "Go back to Iran, you commie m- f-" (Actually, it was a quote from a catholic priest whose name I can't recall.)

One graffito I did enjoy was on a billboard in Boston Elevated station. A big billboard for O'Sullivan's shoe heels showed a sexy babe displaying a high heeled shoe, with slogan: "I'm in love with America's #1 heel!" Below in large letters using lipstick some bimbo had written : "Too bad. sister. I'm married to him!"

The ones with responses are my favorites. Such as:
My mother made me a homosexual.
And directly underneath, in a different script: If I furnish the material will she make me one?
