In case you thought you were having a bad day:

News Item: Two Australian explorers, having survived weeks of intense cold and a stalking polar bear, arrive at the North Pole after a 58-day trek across Siberia, only to realize that neither of them had remembered to pack the flag.

I merely report; I do not comment.
Others, however, may choose to comment.

News item...

...in an American newspaper? I'm just glad we have enough self-security to be proud of our achievements without having to leave material objects as a constant reminder to the rest of the world. The glory comes from making the journey, not from the outcome.

Well, you did say others may choose to comment...

Non-Ozian news item: Sue Ellen Wooldridge, deputy chief of staff for Interior Secretary Gale Norton, wants you to know that, despite being raised on a farm, she has castrated sheep with her teeth "fewer than 50 times."

Perhaps she could join the diplomatic corps as a special emissary to ____________?

I always belief that the North Pole was over the sea, not over the land.
Am I wrong?

"The earth is home to two North Poles located in the Arctic region - a
geographic North Pole and a magnetic North Pole. *

Geographic North Pole

The northernmost point on the earth's surface is the geographic North
Pole, also known as true north. It's located at 90° North latitude and all
lines of longitude converge at the pole. The earth's axis connects the north
and south poles, as its the line around which the earth rotates."

I'll dig up the url for this article, but it was stated that the ocean at the geographic north pole is usually covered with ice.

OK. Here's the url:

Dear Emanuela: I believe you are correct. But the ice is thick enough to be safe to travel over.

You know, with the mid-term erections coming up, this might make a vas deferens in the poles.

I wonder if she's also gonna take a bite ouf of crime (or at least criminals).

Could be a eunuch opportunity for service.

Dear TEd: I bet there is no such request as Mr. Gorsky's in that family.
