I heard a friend of mine say she was "happier than a cold pig in warm mud"! Hi Silk! What an image! What are you happier than?

Well, non-creative person that I am, I at first could only think of "...two peas in a pod". But after a struggle, I finally thought of "...a flea on a coon hound".

Perhaps we could get really wild, and make up stuff. Hmm--"...Anu discovering a lovely new word". Mm, I adore that man! (Blush)

"Happy as a pig in shit" is an old, oft-used and revered expression in the Land of Zild.

I'm pleased it has such a noble provenance.

The last time I heard that reference to the porcine preference for fecal wallowing was when a New Yorker was encouraging me to move to the Big Apple from Kentucky. He said I would be "like a pig in sh*t" there.

A relative was telling a story last night about going to a pig-pickin'. She said that the pig that was being roasted had its tongue all hanging out of its mouth. Grotesque image.

That image caused me to say spontaneously, "Well, that explains why people put an apple into the pig's mouth! An apple would stop the tongue from falling out and would be a by far prettier sight to see on the spit!"

Whuddaya think of my theory?

Beast regards,
WoodWoasting

On a different note, the local radio station in conjunction with Harley Davidson, is hosting a "Grab the Hog and Win a Harley" contest. The object is to be the first of the contestants to grab a greased pig and hold it for the requisite time. PETA has lodged a complaint with the police department. Protests are being planned.

I do not comment, I merely report.

Bringing the thread back around again.
Feeling fine as a frog hair, split five times.
