Thank you. It's mostly his. I got an idea, sent it to him, and he ended up using it as the chorus. But I'm still thrilled to death!

Um--since you are where you are, let me ask you about something I just heard on TV: a detective from up there was on, and I could have sworn I heard him say "Sire-accuse", for the place I've always thought of as "Seer (rhymes with beer)- accuse". Did I hear right, do you think?

It's SER uh kyoose. Some folks might pronounce it differently when they're telling poeple how they pronounce it than they do when they're actually pronouncing it. This was made evident a few years back when Skaneateles, NY had its fifteen minutes and the mayor carefully told the nation it was pronounced Skay nee atlas and then, a few minutes later, pronounced it Skinny atlas the way it's supposed to be pronounced.

SER uh kyoose.
SER rhyming with sir, or with air, please? Also--I take it the end is an s sound and not a z sound?

TAKE ME HOME COUNTRY ROADS
by Danoff, Nivert, and Denver

Almost heaven west Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains Shenandoah river
Life is old there older than the trees
Younger than the mountains blowin' like a breeze

Country roads take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia mountain momma
Take me home country roads

All my memories gather round her
Miner's lady stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine teardrop in my eyes

Country roads take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia mountain momma
Take me home country roads

I hear a voice in the morning how she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
Drivin' down the road I get a feelin'
That I should been home yesterday yesterday

Country roads take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia mountain momma
Take me home country roads

Country roads take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia mountain momma
Take me home country roads
Take me home country roads
Take me home country roads

Yep...Jackie's a recorded songwriter! She's just too modest to start signin' autographs! I'm still waitin' for mine...preferably on a tape or CD of the song

Here's a song that's had a deep impact on me:

THE LONELY ONE

by Dave Mason

There've been moments of despair,
There've been times I couldn't care.
I was the lonely one.
Then you showed myself to me,
And I found I needn't be
Another lonely one.

Chorus

Running in the wilderness and dreaming in
the sun,
And crying to the sky at night
For God's eternal son.

Through the truth and through the lies
There is really no disuise to hide the lonely
ones.
You can find them on a card,
Being matched with other hearts,
The really lonely ones.

Chorus

Running in the wilderness and dreaming in
the sun,
And crying to the sky at night
For God's eternal son.

Inside your rooms, behind your walls.
I see your face, you know
I hear your calls.
Is this some madness that's been left unchecked,
Or will there always be just promises.

Chorus

Running in the wilderness and dreaming in
the sun,
And crying to the sky at night
For God's eternal son.

There are men that hold the key
To set everybody free
But they are the lonely ones.
And, if the day should come
When they all can work as one,
There'll be a destiny.

Yes, I know...

Chorus

Running in the wilderness and dreaming in
the sun,
And crying to the sky at night
For God's eternal son.

Though I too enjoy the song, I should point out that only about five percent of the length of the Shenandoah River is actually in West Virgina. All of the rest is in Virginia.

Sorry, Jackie.

Well, TEd...let dead men lie.

I love this song and John Denver, but I couldn't resist sneaking a half-decent pun in on TEd...forgive me John
