And I still have uncomfortable moments remembering the Birmingham North Interchange ... Spaghetti Junction! Spaghetti Junction was well named for its day, but is tame compared to some modern junctions. My worst moment was trying to get to a hotel in north Austin, Texas. The only access to the hotel appeared to be on (or off) one of the slipways of a multi-level freeway interchange, and although I could see the hotel it took me several turns around several interchanges to make it. In daylight and not jet lagged it was a little easier.

In the theme of the main thread-- we gone off and started talking about Spagetti Junctions
In the Rochester (NY) there is a mess of highways that is commonly called The Can of Worms. In NYC- on traffic mess had a whole book written about it Will they ever finish the Brukner Expressway Interchange? --(i didn't google the title-- its close to that-- the book is about 20 years old now-- and the answer was Yes, about 10 years ago.)
Any other intersitng names for memorable patches of highways or byways? Does anyone remember the Hawthorn Traffic Circle? -- the name only give no idications of the mess! Or does any other state use New Jersey's Jug Handles?

Winnipeg has a Confusion Corner. I imagine it's not as messy as NYC, but it is confusing for anyone who doesn't get into the correct lane well in advance. There are, I think, 7 streets which come together all at once, with nothing as sensible as a traffic circle to deal with the cars, and the signs for the lanes and directions are not clear - one particular sign looks very much like the new name of The Artist Formerly Known as Prince.

He has resolved a contractual dispute with his former record label (by blowing a big raspberry beret , I think) and has resumed use of the appellation, "Prince." I now think of him as The Artist Formerly Known as The Artist Formerly Known as Prince.

I now think of him as The Artist Formerly Known as The Artist Formerly Known as Prince.I read a tongue-in-cheek commentary on Prince's rapid-fire appellation-rearranging process which suggested that his lawyer told him to change his name to avoid his taxes ... sort of the Hot-Black Desiato of the real world!
The idiot also known as Capfka ...

and there have been several books, movies etc, that have been critical of the fire bombing that was done in Dresden and Tokyo during WWII-- so we do have some collective guilt.
