Hello, Darryl. Welcome to the board.

Not knowing how exotic your friend wants the names to be ...

I nominate SPARTAN VICTORY

"I nominate SPARTAN VICTORY"

with all due respect, i think CARDINAL CHAMPION has a more resounding ring to it.

Autralia huh? hmmmmm ...
An archaic meaning for the word currency, according to the Oxford English dictionary is : a native born Australian! So : Currency?
For a bay-colored horse, of course BOTNAY BABY (Mis-spelled on purpose so it can be registered, thank you).
For a black horse : Dark Knight
For a filly : "Quite the Lass" or "Big Bad Broad" (if your friend's mind works that way.) ...
Then I also like, for the trouble they will cause announcers, "Out In Front" and "WINNER"
wow

Bravo Jackie, what a memory you have. I was having that been-there, done-that feeling too, but I can never find what I search for.

How about "Donkey"? A friend of mine who has/trains racehorses uses that as a stable name for his best pacer. He wanted to register that as her race name but got a tart rejoinder from the NZ Trotting Association that it might bring the industry into disrepute. Pardon? I'd have thought it was a bit late for that!

The idiot also known as Capfka ...

OK, how about Donqui Xote? Or are we tilting at windmills trying to pass that one off? Or will the tart still issue her opprobrious rejoinder? Or, if you've seen the movie, "Babe," perhaps your friend should enter a sow named Equus, or something.

Sheesh, Geoff. You came up with a fantastic one there in the text of your message...

Opprobrious Rejoinder

Yeah, I like it!

Opprobrious Rejoinder

Ah, yes, it does fall tripping off the tongue, doesn't it! And, for those of a certain age, there's the old Spike Jones song about a race horse named Beetlebaum. Am I the only one who remembers it? Oohhh, I'm old enough for the glue factory!

No, Geoff, you're not the only who remembers Spike Jones's version of the William Tell overture (I think) and many other 'classics'. I still have a couple of LPs of his, and had many 78s (remember those?) when I was a youngster.

We'll have to get together, guys: "and coming into the home straight, it's...... BEETLEBUM!"

(well, that's what I heard it as when young, of course!)

... BEETLEBUM!"

And I heard, "Beetlebomb!" What a blast I also misheard "Bud Abbott and Lou Costello; I thought the radio announcer was saying, "Butt Abbott and Lucas Tello."

Oh, I've got to go find some old Spike Jones - I hope they've put them on CDs!

Nobody's mentioned the Peter, Paul, and Mary song about a racehorse named Stewball, so I won't either.

the last lot of equine names were lost when the dreaded Win95 caused all my files to be lost :-(
I hope I have better luck this time :-)
