REDRAINED

A church's bell-ringer passed away.

The position was advertised, and a man with no arms applied for the job. The priest gently suggested that with no arms, he couldn't do the job, but the man convinced him give him at least a try-out.

They climbed the bell tower...and he ran toward the bell, and struck it with his head. The peal resounded over the countryside, and they gave him the job.

The next day he went to ring the bell, tripped, bounced off, and fell to the ground hundreds of feet below.

A man waking below saw this and was horrified. He ran to tell the priest what had happened. "Father, do you know this man?" he asked.

"No," said the priest, "but his face rings a bell."

REDRAINED

The position of bell-ringer was again vacant, and was duly advertised again.

Another man without arms came to apply. "That man who fell yesterday -- he was my twin brother. You MUST give me the same chance to do the job that you gave him!"

They led him up to the bell tower. He ran at the bell.. and he, too, tripped and fell to the ground hundreds of feet below.

The same man was again walking down below, saw it all, looked at the man, looked at the priest, and said, "Father, do you know THIS man?'

"No," said the priest again, "but he's a..."

add G

"...DEAD RINGER for his brother."

(sorry)

It doesn't have much cleverness, but

REDRAINED

with D --> T

RETRAINED

could take us to new ways
