We did it once. We were about 12 IIRC. My friend and I stuck our heads in the door of the Desoto-Plymouth dealership, shouted, "Groucho sent us!", and ran.

Looking back on it from the perspective of some fifty-odd years (and, yes, at least fifty of them were odd) I'd bet either they did or they muttered amongst themselves, "It'd be nice of some kid could come up with something new once in a while."

Still it is a little better, I think, that the prank calls
asking "Do you have Prince Albert in a can?", or "Is your
refrigerator running?"
