I came across this word, "lovejoy", in Cormack McCarthy's novel THE ORCHARD KEEPER. I couldn't find it in any dictionary. Can anyone help?

Couldn't find it either,Pecolier ... the only lovejoys I know are a local fellow who managed a radio station and the Lovejoy who is the antiques dealer/scam artist/con man of the Lovejoy novels.

Maybe an antonym for "killjoy"?

That was the first thought that crossed my mind, anyway...

Hey, Fiberbabe, as a former Portland resident, you might remember that Asa Lovejoy and Francis Pettigrove flipped a coin to determine who got to name this berg. Pettigrove, after losing, probably thought that Lovejoy WAS a killjoy!
