I was perusing AWADmail Issue 448. Sometimes I am quite slow. Could someone please explain this 'A THOUGHT FOR TODAY' to me?
What word has st in the middle, in the beginning, and the ending?
(Hint: It's an anagram for 'kind ants'.)

I found the word but still cannot make sense of it. Oh--wait. Never mind--I just got it. Geez! I'll go ahead and leave this here in case others may have interest.
I think I'll go have a little wine...

I know what YOU mean Jackie...I had the same problem,I was thinking...there is no word that starts with 'st' and has 'st' in the middle and 'st' at the end...so I wrote the anagram on paper and of course there is only x1 'st' and I worked it out from there.

Good for the brain, wasn't it grin

Inkstand? St in the middle "in" the beginning "and" the ending.
Thought for the day? Well it made you think, didn't it?
Eta: I let the answer out, because if I took so long over it everyone else must have got it by now.

Glad I can stop now.

I still think of eta as being short for etaoin, a.k.a. buffalo shrdlu - but you seem to be using it as an abbrev. for something else, which I can't fathom because of seeing it as etaoin!
please advise.

I have been debating returning to my former moniker, but not sure if that wold only add to the confusion!

Me too. I still think of Buffalo as Eta. And I thought the big shoe was kinda quirky.

The only other interpretation for eta that I know is Estimated Time of Arrival; not exactly relevant here. So, R--the return of the big shoe (thanx for the reminder, olly!) would be fine with me. What did you do to change it--edit your preferences?

Edited typo. Grr.

I didn't know you back then...but a rose by any other name still smells as sweet (well you know that).

The deed was done when you moved to buffy. Everyone is already confused as to who Eta is. I can't even edit in peace anymore. Besides, as Candy said "a buffalo by any other name would smell just as sweet." Go on Eta. Change it back to Etaoin.

I don't know. Your new moniker seems apropos to me. (As the lyric goes: "Her name was McGill, and she called herself Lil, but everyone knew her as Nancy".)

trying to change your avatar or your user id? (you can't do the latter without re-registering (unless you remember your old id and password), the former is under Edit Profile.)

Well, I don't see that option either (not that my skills are anything to judge by). I sigh for eta, but rejoice in...dare I day it?...the Buff!

If that option were still there, I was thinking of following Eta's brilliant example. I need to find another symmetrical username though.

I don't know,Candy, it does not look too far north of where
you are. You must be getting residual winds and rain.
