Now that you tell this I dare confess that I used to love jiggsaws puzzles a lot. And doing them was not a matter of patience but sort of a meditation. If you lived nearby I could give you my collection. The Chambord Palace. The Forum Romanum. Parks and gardens. Neuschwannstein. The cliffs of Dover. laugh
But all those windjammmer sails that were so very much alike were a real trial. I never made one since. ( I agree, one piece missing means it cannot be used any more) smile

The way I put things back together, there's more likely going to be pieces left over after I complete the puzzle. I once took a clock apart and put it back together. There were enough pieces left over to make a whole nother clock.

That has happened with me, and taking the puzzle back to
the merchant is a waste of time, because I am not in the
frame of mind to re-do it.
