quaintly put.. but yes, each round comprises a definition culled by the hogmaster® from some (hopefully) reliable resource plus the various daffynitions submitted by those that wish to play. you should read the hogwash® rules, which are pinned to the top of the Wordplay and fun forum. (that'd be this very forum) in the real world this game is known variously under names such as the 'dictionary game' and Balderdash®.. link and link

I see both of these links are to "Googlebooks" ( a.k.a books.google.com, a recently-launched effort to get the entire world literature, if not digitally available, then at least indexed and located. All kinds of copyright issues in the process of resolution, with a widespread awareness campaign inaugurated today. (See your local Parade Magazine today, and elsewhere.) I would call to our collective attention the other tab on the page, called "About this book," which has all sorts of intriguing tidbits about who, what, where, maps, references to, bookstores selling, libraries loaning, etc. Just the sort of interesting trivia Our Kind find interesting.
