****Why, thank you. I can't imagine what I have done to deserve such longevity in my 79th year

I use a browser such as Safari (I use Camino) to view AWAD, not a mail program like Entourage or Mail. actually, I'm not sure how you would use a mail program to access AWAD.

***Now that you mention it, neither do I. It's all perplexing

Hi tsu. No, I am still in a state of dire confusion as to why Mac doesn't let me highlight and drag

where are you trying to highlight/drag? within a response here on the Board, or within Entourage? and why are you in Entourage if you are trying to post here?

just trying to square away all the possibilities.

eta: Thank you for your patience. My confusion owes partly to my advanced age perhaps approaching senility and partly to assumptions based on my galloping ignorance of the digital world. I had assumed that Mac was in charge of the editing rules within a response such as this and since Entourage is Mac's version of Microsoft's Outlook (while editing rules in the latter are derived although not necessarily transferable from Mac's version of Microsoft Word), I blamed Mac for the apparent glitch. But your post suggests that the editing rules here are instead set not by Bill or Mac but by AWAD and that my apparent difficulty is due to an unfamiliarity with WS' particular algorithm and that I'm just simply doing something wrong

Thanks also to the rest of you in your valiant attempts to deal with my incipient Alzheimer's. However, if anyone could suggest an easy way to transfer personal taskbar editing macros from Word to Entourage I'd be most grateful

dale, can you tell me which browser (Safari, FireFox, something else) you are using to access the Wordsmith Board (to read this post, e.g.)?

you are using to access

Dale, I used the Safari broswer (pc version) and AWAD editor to highlite and drag the bolded phrase from within eta's post. I assume this can be done with the Mac version as well.

strangely enough, it cannot. it works fine in Camino (a browser that I prefer in most cases to any other). I'm even having trouble right-clicking a word in Safari. strange. I don't remember this problem.

/off to do a bit more research...
