Another new (to me) coinage: I saw in our paper the other day a notice about a free seminar. The notice ended by saying that if people couldn't come to it, they could attend it virtually at xxx.xxx.com/webinar.

Anybody else heard this one?

I get it all the time in work-related emails. Being proactive I'll say that it's an easily understood word for a relatively new, previously unnamed concept. If you need any more rationalization for it, tough.

For my previous job, I planned and ran a few webinars for which I had my own WebEx account. (As part of my job, it was just something else I had to do, and I didn't really marvel at the word at that time.) It seems a goodly portmanteau word and useful.

I've heard and used it for quite some time. Google News Archive has hits back to 1998.

I would imagine that most people would attend the seminar from their computers at work. I suppose if they normally wear plaid jackets at work or go to work unshaven in their underwear ...
