My father would call me or send me a note that said, "Eschew Communism. Beware the Ideas of Marx."
Here's looking at you, Pop. I miss you.

Thanks for the warning, TEd. Of course the real reason to beware the ideas of Marx is that some day they just might catch on in a place that can handle them.

With all due respect to deceased fathers, I thought this was a place where no political ideas or ideologies where propagated. Mildly put, I'm surprised.

Thank you, TEd... I've come to look forward to your Pop's annual admonition. I would've been disappointed had you not remembered this year. The apple doesn't fall far from the block, eh?

While we're missing dads, mine would sometimes say he didn't know somebody from a load of hay.

My dad's favorite was: "To those who understand, no explanation is necessary. To those who don't understand, no explanation is possible".
Of course he also said, "Don't convert the squares. We won't have anybody to laugh at!"

"Don't convert the squares. We won't have anybody to laugh at!" I'm very lucky because my Dad is still with us. He's not one for pithy sayings, but any time he says he loves me is saying enough for me. Ooo, that and "how about a little wine with supper" HA! ---------------------- TEd...I forgot to add. I look forward to your salute every year too. I believe that a man remembered is never gone.

My Dad loved anything of quality, from architecture to winter storms and music from Blondie (in his 70's) to opera - but it had to be done well. Our childhood recitals and dance shows were torture for the poor man but he came.

From my dad I learned, among other things, to buy good-quality tools--they'll last a lifetime.
