Welcome kpk. I hope you do stick around and get to know us.
I think the adjective form of what you're looking for is maybe "ethnocentric," although there are those who say that the term "ethnocentric American" is redundant. (And that's not even getting into the fact that, strictly speaking, Canadians are Americans -- North Americans at least -- which they are quick to point out for the sake of argument even though they are otherwise delighted to distinguish themselves from non-Canadian North Americans. But I digress...)
I don't know of a noun form offhand but someone here probably does, and will share it, and then one of the Teds will come along and either make a brilliant and/or painful pun on the subject, or else weave it into a shaggy dog story written in a mysterious but oddly compelling vernacular. The Teds are quite harmless but beware of the mad "poets" (useing the term loosely) who will inflict egregiously bad limericks on you at the slightest provocation.

I think that's a little strong, Daddio Stevarino. I'll go with Alex's ethnocentric. I've run into it myself, and I'm sure it's happened the other way round, regarding the abbreviation WA.

If nombrilar is not a word, it should be, and it should mean this.
