i think maybe because my parents (from dublin) most likely use the UK eye version, but growning up in US, i am more likely to hear, (and say) the other..

but i know, sometimes, i flip flop

Shocked was I to learn that when I say "eye"ther, I'm being either pretentious or British (still trying to work out which is the graver insult).
