Ooops had my fingers on the wrong line - subject line looked like I had already finished the champagne.
I won't have access to a computer tomorrow so I'll say it now...
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

We've got a broad enough audience - we should have a rolling HNY he way they had that rolling Mozart Requiem several years ago...a lot happier reason now, at least.

Here's wishing all you good people of Awad a most prosperous and happy new year, and to you people who have me on "ignore" I wish you a...uh...new year.

Well, Milo, I wish you and everyone else here a peaceful and enriching new year ~ in whatever terms will bring each individual most happiness.

Not to be contrary, but I am mildly confused by the common practice of wishing people "Happy New Year" before the New Year has begun. Today is the Feast of Saint Sylvester of Rome. Thus it would make sense to wish people a Happy Sylvester's Day today and wait until after midnight tonight to extend New Year's greetings. Mayhaps the common (anticipatory) practice is not so much jumping the gun as it is invoking a wish FOR the New Year -- peace, happiness, prosperity, cheaper gas -- which does make sense, when offered in advance of the commencement of it.

Which part of the spinning globe are you referring to, Father? (he slurs, having had a *very jolly family gathering!)

I suppose I should return Mav's kind and jolly greeting now -- rather than wait the requisite two hours and forty five minutes -- since the lights will be out and the residents will be asleep in our house when the 2006 line passes overhead. I have a service in the morning and my sermon for the Feast of the Holy Name (formerly the Feast of the Circumcision) is done. It is getting pretty late for an aged vicar and so my greeting anticipates the astrophysical event.
