OP there is an interesting report in today's NYTimes..
(some one i know will add the link to the place were you can find 'generic id's and passwords' for those who don't want to register.)

it about curse, vulgar, profane, and scatalogical language --its use and its history!
(this is the NYTIMES--the most commonly offensive words are never actually printed!)
