here's a rare gem that I dug up today:

contumulate - [fr. L. contumulare, to entomb]
obs. rare buried or entombed together

the only online usage I've found (other than Kevin Johnson's mock news item), was this excerpt from "A Suggestive Inquiry into Hermetic Philosophy" by Mary Anne Atwood (1960)

The King and Queen contumulate,

and joined as one together,

that which before was two by fate

is tyed, which none can sever.

Google gives 4½ hits:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=contumulate&btnG=Google+Search

I had to look up contumely again (Gurunet):
con·tu·me·ly (kŏn'tû-mə-lç, -tyû-, -təm-lç)
n., pl. -lies.
1. Rudeness or contempt arising from arrogance; insolence.
2. An insolent or arrogant remark or act.
[Middle English contumelie, from Old French, from Latin contumçlia; akin to contumâx, insolent.]

How odd--a noun that ends in -ly. Just think of saying, "My newest employee gave me a contumely."

4.5 hits:
1 for the site that quotes Atwood (it was suggested to me that she is quoting Socrates, as that's in the site's url -- did he write in rhymes??)
1.5 in Latin, which I can't read -- can you J?!
1.5 for the Kevin Johnson Spizz site, which I mentioned.

/nitpicking response

The King and the Queen contumulate
They are joined together as one
In life they could never consummate
What in death their union has won.

I thought that number would garner a query or comment from somebody or other!

It looked to me as though the Spizz site was listed twice, so I gave it a whole credit for the first time, and a half-credit for the second time.

and the "2" Latin hits are the same site for another 1.5, which makes 4.0... <holding breath>
