On the radio news, I heard that "Martha Stewart will hear her 'sedence' tomorrow. Why do people have such trouble with that word?

Have you noticed that even weathermen say "tempature" for temperature--and if you hear the word "mee-ur" in a news item or commercial, it probably means mirror.
