Tres Chicas, an alt folk gospel rock band (how's that for not making up my mind), is actually 3 girls + 3 guys. The lead femme made a comment about the guys naming themselves tres hombres but then changing to "meat saw." My question is, "do any of you know slang or alt meanings of meat saw or is just being a saw for meat suggesting enough machismo for the joke?"

They were quite good, by the way. Tres chicas. And the hombres. Meat saw.

I've heard the sound of *grungy guitars compared to that of a meat saw.

Welcome aboard, cwc. Pardon my laziness.

Ah, that could very well have been the point. The guys did add quite a bit of kick to the sound. My mind was in the gutter just enough to think something bawdy had been suggested but not enough to fathom what exactly had been implied.

Thanks for the greeting. I've enjoyed reading posts here for some time.

Tres Chicas... is actually 3 girls + 3 guys.

In the grand tradition of Barenaked Ladies and the Violent Femmes (both bands with no female members), no doubt.

I was just thinking of Ben Folds Five. Also, the Thompson Twins and Cocteau Twins are without twins.

??

my post about Ben Folds appeared, after I posted it, duh, and then, when I came back later, it was gone. so, I re-posted it, and when that one came up, presto! there was my previous one, already replied to... some funky cache issue, I suppose. I expect had I been more awake, I could have deleted the second post before anyone else replied, but no. I didn't.
