Subject: A.Word.A.Day--indwell
in.dwell \(')in-'dwel\ vb : to exist within as an activating spirit, force, or principle

From whence the adjective "indwelling". I can remember the
days when many sad alcoholics with cirrhosis of liver had
difficulty voiding because the literally could not "pull the plug" developed overfilled bladders requiring catheterization. The male urethra is quite delicate, and
repeated catheterizations could become very painful. So
when the Foley catheter with an inflatable balloon on the
tip, which could be inflated after insertion to retain the
catheter in the bladder for days if necessary, it was a
godsend to the tormented ex-topers.
