OP In looking up etymology of "chillblain", all I found was
"chill + blain". So I looked up "blain":
blain
PRONUNCIATION: bln
NOUN: A skin swelling or sore; a blister; a blotch.
ETYMOLOGY: Middle English, from Old English blegen.
