are you sure that's the link, Jackie? edit now I see it... getting blind in my dotage...
anyway, we just recently have been talking about this word, below the fold, I believe, which is the point of Bill's post.
of course, I could be wrong.

Dear Jackie: you are half right. Today's word, however, was a device named after the Earl of Orrery. So my post of a few days ago was the first about the astronomical teaching device. After years of AWADtalkers ignoring Wordsmith's words, it is only fair that he should ignore words we post.
It amuses me a bit to see if I can manage to make a post about each Today's Word. I admit some of my excuses are pretty thin. When I first joined, I used to post about them in Miscellany, since the title of the Forum,'Weekly Themes' makes it hard to post there, since only occasionally is the Theme named, and often too late. But AnnaStrophic scolded me about posting in Miscellany, so I started posting
in Weekly Themes. If I can't think of a way to post there,
my day is off to a bad start.

You know, you're right, Dr. Bill--we hardly EVER actually discuss the weekly themes! Maybe this category ought to be called Comments on the Word for the Day, or some such. I say again, my favorite Theme is words that go out of their way to contradict themselves, which is why I posted about hoplite: somebody wearing heavy armor couldn't!

Hoplite didn't go out of its way to contradict itself; it stumbled into it totally unaware, blindsided by a disreputable fluid that presumes to call itself beer.

were I of a paranoid mindset, I'd think that Anu was cribbing from wwftd of late (see orrery, ninnyhammer, bogart, hypercorrect, holophrasis, dysphemism); but I guess when you wander into obscurity, it does tend to narrow the field a bit.

Would you like me to ask him on your behalf? :)
