Today's Word "spoor" reminds me of chilling words on shortwave broadcasts early in WWII: "Spurlos versenkt" = Sunk without a trace.

'Spur' is German for 'trace' isn't it?
In a way it is linked with 'spoor' -- the track or 'trace' of an animal.

It is exactly related to spoor. There are three English definitions of spurlos - "traceless", "trackless" and "without trace". Apparently, you can also say "keine spur vom", literally "no trace of".
