It jars me disagreeably to see "Koln" for Cologne. Umlauts are a bit of bother, but in this
case it is simply unacceptable to omit the umlaut in Köln. The umlaut was originally a tiny
"e", and in some cases a full sized "e" takes the place of the umlaut. I have never seen
"Koeln" though.

The name of this town has fluctuated depending on who was in charge at any particular time. Certainly this doesn't qualify as being as exonymic as, say India for Bharat. Is York an exonym for Yorvik? Is Yorvik an exonym for Eoforice? Is Eoforice an exonym for Eboracum?
