"Dollop" is an interesting word.

When you spend a lot of time at the bottom of the heap [as I do], you think less of the top.

It's only gnatural.

Still, it may be good for all of us to go bottom feeding every now and again.

Those at the top
Are only a dollop
'Cause the flavor begins
At the bottom.

When you spend a lot of time at the bottom of the heap [like me], you think less of the top.

all in together now for a rousing chorus of "no body loves me, everybody hates me, guess i'll eat some worms!"

you are defining top and bottom, putting yourself on bottom, and then lamenting you are there..

you need to change your perspective.
what make top or bottom here?
once you register, you can make posts. You are an equal.
if you make a lot of posts (all under one registered name) you will have your title change. this is done automatically by the software. it is a count. you could post (and piss off everyone at once), post after post with a single word. after a few hundered of them, you'd be a carpel tunnel .
who cares? (umm, i think you do. well that your problem. excuse me if i don't really care!)

what is important here to most of us! is the quality of the post, not the quantity.
You control the quality of your posts! if you only want to moan and groan, and complain, 'Gee, i am not a carpel tunnul yet, and no one respects me--well guess what.. no one will respect you when you do get to be a carpel tunnel! you have (so you obviously can) made good quality posts about words, the uses, the history, the etemology, the semantics of a specific word. continue to do that, and you'll have everyone respect.
continue this silliness that others are more respected than you are (because of silliness like a simple count of their posts!) when in truth respect is earned by making considerate posts, and you'll never be respected.
you can be a respectable gnat- it might not come gnaturaly.. but then your not really a gnat, are you?
[/RANT]

Now, Dollop is an intersting word..
Doesn't seem always to be paired with schlag? --i have a dollop of schlag on the pudding, please.

a dollop is a generous amount... more than spoonful, but less than a serving.. i am almost certain in the dawn of time, we had a discussion about dollop (or was it about some other quanity, like dab? and dollops snuck in? no matter. i can bearly remember the thread..

so do you dollop (freshly whipped cream!)
or do you dollop (artifical frozen whipped topping glop--Ugh!)
or do you squirt (canned whipped cream)

or do you prefer naked pudding and pie?

or something in between? what is a serving of cream called if not a dollop?

You are the creme de la creme, de Troy ... and a "dish" top to bottom*.

P.S. I promise to resign if I ever become a Carpal Tunnel.

Who was it who said: "I won't join any club that would accept me as a member."

Maybe I'll have to resign if I get to be a Member.

[My time is limited so I guess we'll all have to make the best of it.]

*And I'm not just sayin' that 'cause I'm a gnat.

Ha, ha! grapho might resign, but you'll be back! you can't fool me!

You are the creme de la creme, -- interesting term isn't it? do you remember the idiot test from younger years? (a big long story about an internation flight that crashes, on an international border, and the final question is "Where do they bury the survivers?"

i remember that question and this one..
which weighs more? a pint of heavy cream or a pint of light cream?
heavy cream-- with its higher fat content, of course is the creme de la creme, rising to the top, and a pint of heavy cream, (on a scale) would weigh less than a pint of light cream, (with less fat, and more water content)
those how know me, know that, if i am the creme de la creme, its partly because of a higher percentage of fat!

i have always been puzzled by the terms heavy cream and light cream. (since heavy cream is lighter, and it does rise to the very top!) are there other generaly misnamed things? (i am sure there are, i just can think of any!)

I might resign and then re-sign again, de Troy.

But then I would be coming back as a gnat, and not as a Member.

I might resign and then re-sign again, de Troy.

But don't expect me to come back immediately.

I might have to spend some time in purgnatory for fraternizing with the enemy.

But, dammit, de Troy. It'll be worth every minute!

Yes, but I had to take a few liberties with the original, wwh.

Grapho, unlike Harpo, will never have the option of "refusing".

It does seem unfair
But everyone's fare
To a gadfly.

A gadfly will spare no fare ... whatever it costs him.

Maybe the terms heavy and light are meant to denote quantity in this instance o.T.

Heavy seems like it is used as "a heavy concentration of" rather than heavy meaning having a lot of weight - and vice versa with the term light.

F.W.I.W., I like the word dollop, though I never really use it. Strawberries and cake are meant to be covered in liquid whipping cream - dollops are just not enough.

I agree, belM.

"Dollop" is a light-hearted word. You can like "dollop" without actually using it.

A dollop is good to see
But it's not really fare for me.

Seeing a dollop gives me more pleasure than actually dolloping it. [I'm counting calories, you see.]
