This is a word I have been hearing a lot lately.

I suppose this is what most people call an entrepreneur.

impresario (ˌɪmprəˈsɑːrɪˌəʊ)
n, pl -sarios
1. (Theatre) a producer or sponsor of public entertainments, esp musical or theatrical ones
2. (Theatre) the director or manager of an opera, ballet, or other performing company
[C18: from Italian, literally: one who undertakes; see impresa]

Not really. Entrepreneur is a more general business term meaning someone who starts businesses or makes business deals. Impresario is used pretty much exclusively in the entertainment field.

You are correct, but in the general scheme of things people would use the word entrepreneur, even when it comes to the entertainment industry. Not many would use impresario.

I dunno. Maybe things are different on West Island, but around here I don't think anybody would call an impresario an entrepreneur. But then it's not really my field so maybe they would.
