Write out the phrase “expect the devil.”

Extract the Roman numerals: eXpeCt the DeVIL

Add these: D (500) + C (100) + L (50) + X (10) + V (5) + I (1)

The total is 666.

Wrongo Lukeo, your math if off. The Roman numeral V should be connected to the following I making six rather than five.
Then the sum total would be...

D (500) C (100) L (50) X (10) VI (6) which totals...uh...

Nevermind.

Actually , since you have XCDVIL you have XC is 90, D is 500 minus the preceding 90 is 410, VI is 6, L is 50 minus the preceding 6 is 44. 410 + 44 = 454, which is OK anyway because the Number of the Beast is actually 616, not 666.

What it really is is:

Deus Conteret eX VIro, DCXVI, God grinds out of man.

Don't be silly Faldax, you know that only The Beast can change the Number of the Beast which is 666 so stop hypothesizing least people find you a False Beast.

Listen, Falsedo...
The numerical mysterium to correct your roman math is...
DCLXVI = 666
Minus L (50) to rid man-so-unkind of "Lust"
equals 616
Which is the Mark of the Effete Beast.

Oh my!

Say Bazr....pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, in these arcane matters the words speak for themselves if you know how to read them. Take SATAN for example; enumerate each letter in accord with it's place in the latin alphabet and then add them...

S+19 A+1 T+20 A+1 N+14 = 55
Exault his high station by multiplying by 10 = 550
But everyone knows that the Devil is Dead though it is said that SATAN LIVES
L+12 I+9 V+22 E+5 S+19 = 67
550 + 67 = 617 but everyone knows that the devil is in fact dead so subtract the devil and you'll get 616 the mark of False Beast.
