OP In this computer age the most obvious meaning of parity is to indicate if a byte or word has an odd or even number of ones. Parity provides a very low level check for transmission errors because changing a single bit changes the parity of the larger item.
Yup, especially if you understand computers well enough
to do that, and know what it means.
