Today it'll be ten years since I started coming here. As you may gather from the title of this post, the sounds we use to make language intrigue me more often than...not. It's good to see all those who, even after some trying times, are still aound (some even longer than I) - Jackie, Faldage, Tsuwm, Wolfie, zmjezhd (that's the "hd" version of zmjez), BranShea and the Buffalo... I stop in occasionally and will continue 2 do so. Merry times 4 everyone!

Xmas is such a brilliant word is it not? The X comes from the greek for Christ and the mass is, well, mass. The amount of people I know who get annoyed about it and then, once explained, bluster around and sulk. Because, in fact xmas has been around a very long time...possibly longer than Christmas (although you'll have to check that) oh the joy of greek laugh

The ignorant are often quick to being annoyed. I used to pronounce Xmas exmuss, but now I say chi-rho mess. And does anybody know if the H. in "Jesus H. Christ" (usually attributed to Sam Clemens) is really from the eta in the abbreviation IHC XPC?

In our church, when I was a boy, on the front of the

You are brilliant Bex...I never knew that! (about Xmas, that is) I sometimes avoided writing it that way, because I didn't want to upset anyone...now I can abbreviate and appear knowledgeable at the same time LOL

Wishing you all Happy Hoildays
