Few people like to use a particular word or phrase in almost every sentence they speak. We say that the word or the phrase is their pet word.for eg. A friend of mine like to start his excalmatory sentence with VIOLA!...
My query is that whether there exists a single word for PET WRODs or Phrases...

Thanks in advance...

agravating? i know i have more than a few stock phrases that i use again and again. i also know i use different ones for spoken conversation, than i do here (or other casual written stuff)

in writing, i think they are called boilerplate.. originally a newspaper term.

Well, I guess you would get people's attention with musical accompaniment...

Such things can become tedious in short order. Aramis used to sit back-to-back with a sack of wind who tended to start almost every sentence with "Basically,". And of course, every telephone conversation (not deliberately overheard) had to be laced with filler like "long story short" and "the bottom line".

It's almost as annoying as people who talk about themselves in the third person... oh, wait...
