hadn't seen this before, but msnbc is using this word(?) as a headline:
World Reax
it's a story about world reaction to the US invasion of Iraq.
pretty sorry excuse for a word if you ask me...

Agreed, etaoin. Abbreviation to the point of absurdity [or self-parody].

A bit like the Sun's headline "Aw, fook" (from memory).

"Aw, fook" is scholastic next to "reax".

I think reax is comical. And even sickly comical. And even darkly sickly comical.
The word ax embedded in the reaction is the dark part.

I s'pose it's like putting pix for pictures. But I agree, WW, ax makes it dark. I can't imagine seeing, for ex., "Let's give her a surprise party and see how she reax".

"When a woodchopper breaks a blade he has to reax." Dear WO'N: Ases could take a lot of punishment, and I never knew of axe head being destroyed. But they dulled rapidly, and until comparatively recently could be sharpened only on a foot powered grindstone which might take a large part of an hour, be very tiring. So much so that "keeping your nose to the grindstone" was and still is a cliché for hard work.
