Saturday night Peggy and I hosted a total of 13 people for dinner at The Fort, a wonderful (and expensive) restaurant near Denver, in celebration of my retirement. It had been originally scheduled a month earlier, but I changed it to March 8 so everyone could show up. Someone in the party told the waitress that the next day was my birthday, and the next thing I knew the wait staff came out with a buffalo headdress for me to wear while the staff and patrons gave three cheers. The picture is posted on The Fort's web site:http://thefort.com/2348/thefort.nsf/MainFrame!OpenFrameSet Click on photo gallery and then look at the pictures displayed. My picture is currently on the first page, the first column, third picture down from the top. They apparently add new pictures at the top, so this order may change. If so, look for March 8, 2003 on the picture. I have a graying beard and am wearing a blue buttondown oxford shirt, no tie. TEd

I think it may have been the frosty beverages that let your gaurd down. (You look a little *starry-eyed ) Congrats on both dates.

Congrats TEd. As I said once before, now you're gonna get REAL busy!!
So what's an "oxford" shirt? Why? What other name would I know it as? A "business" shirt perhaps?

(Gotta be a word topic somewhere here folks....)

An oxford shirt is made of a heavier coarser cloth, called, surprisingly enough, oxford cloth.http://www.virtue.to/fabric/07_Weaving.html this site says it has white threads going one way and colored the other but I've seen white oxford cloth.

Dunno what you know as cheesecloth. What USns call cheesecloth wouldn't work for this kind of shirt. Would you wear a shirt made of it? And go to work in that shirt? It's a little more casual than your standard dress shirt but not so much to stop you from going to work.

Ted, I keep getting a note that the link doesn't work. Is there something special I should be doing?

Ha, welcome to buffalo lodge TEd. C'est cute.
I had to double-check your post though since I just looked at third picture and thought, hmmmm, doesn't look like that would be him. Looks kinda like Jimmy Durante. Then I went back and saw you said third picture down.

How neat, now I'll recognise you in Ireland. Are ya bringing the hat? I know how you guys do love your tatty accessories.
