Not so worthless. An ornamental small tree, fairly common in Southern California. Small dispersed
leaves, a pale lavender mist of tiny blossoms with very pleasant fragrance.

From M-W Word for the Wise, 1999
You may be able to puzzle out meward and inwit. Meward
means "toward me;" Pound used the adverb to note "for her
hands have no kindness meward." The noun inwit means
"inward knowledge, conscience, or understanding." It appears
in a Pound line about someone "acting from inwit." But even if
you knew meward and inwit, we'll bet most you were
stumped by jactance. Jactance is another word for
"vainglorious boasting;" Pound borrowed it to complain about
"jactance, vanity, peculation to the ruin of 20 years' labor."
At last, a couple interesting words.
