A litlle snippet from Dave Barry's latst column, which I thought might amuse the Fourth Estaters here:

But my point is that competitive eating is a real sport, and I considered taking it up. But when I thought about what this would mean -- sitting around for hours, stuffing my face with unhealthy food -- I realized it was basically the same thing as journalism.

I understand that in Zild it's always tomorrow; still, I feel it's unjust that sjm should get ahold of our local boy's Sunday column before us Usn compatriots do.

stuffing my face with unhealthy food

It's not always unhealthy. Sometimes, at, like, a book launch or an exhibition opening, we get crudites and dip. Or, like, brie and crackers. Or even both! (o frabjous day!) And wine. I like it when they give us wine.

You can always tell a journo at any gathering where there's free food or an open bar. That is where us economically-challenged word wranglers are generally to be found.
